hard_hatIf you follow me on Twitter you know that last weekend IZEA organized an exclusive hard hat tour of Manta, a new roller coaster at SeaWorld, with a small group of bloggers. Manta is simply amazing. It combines an unique cave-like aquarium and flying roller coaster into one awesome experience like nothing else on the planet.

I am most excited about the coaster aspect of the attraction. You ride laying down, attached to belly of a giant Manta, creating the sensation of flight. It was so cool to hear directly from the people that conceptualized and managed this massive project. You could tell that they are genuinely excited to share their creation with the public. I never realized how much goes into building an attraction like this; it makes me appreciate Manta that much more.

    *sigh*

Americans (and surrounding areas) only huh? That sucks.
I’m in the UK and it’s terrible that this prize isn’t open for us 🙁

I think as a Brit, I am unfairly treated by yourself and demand recompense for pointing out this anomoly.

Also by stating the above comment, I hereby take away all rights of other global citizens unable to enter this competition from making the same point.

    Good day Sir,
    Jamie

ps – only joking about, but it IS a shame 🙂
I’ve never been to Orlando FL, let alone Seaworld and would have relished the opportunity!

  • Miss Britt says:

    I LOVE roller coasters!

Plus, I always have the dream where I’m flying. It’s clearly a sign that I need to ride this baby to experience it in real life.

  • BenSpark says:

I’ve never really been a roller coaster person, sure I ride them and enjoy myself but they haven’t been my thing. The description of feeling like you are in flight, well that is what really got me. I would love to win a family trip for four to Seaworld because Eva love the dolphins. And our fourth family member would be Auntie Mo because she loves taking care of Eva and she is a Sea World Fanatic.

  • Shamu and Terror, two great tastes that taste great together! Nothing is as cool as watching a trained killer whale do their thing, and nothing is as delightfully terrifying as a good roller coaster. I’ve been known to jump off of a ‘coaster and get right back in line over and over and over . . .

I must ride Manta. I must do so with a few of my best friends. And when I need to take a Manta break, I want to do it with Shamu.

    Thank you, that is all.

  • I LOVE roller coasters & LOVE Seaworld!

  • I’m actually scared of roller coasters, but flying? The sensation of flying? I’d give that a shot.

I’d love to take the rest of my family, we still have not had the chance to go to SeaWorld.

  • Liz Strauss says:

Wow! Ted! What a great giveaway! The manta sounds like one heck of an anazing experience! SeaWorld was already a fine trip now it’s outstanding!

  • Chuck Hester says:

I love the STING of a good Manta, and Seaworld Orlando has the best kind – scary yet safe for the whole family. I’ll just tell my 14 y/o daughter we won a trip to see Orlando – she’ll think it’s Orlando Bloom and we’ll get her on the plane! HA!

  • Andrew says:

It took 280 characters to describe the awesomeness of this one! http://twitter.com/anoo/status/1198933306 and http://twitter.com/anoo/status/1198927118 ! Seaworld had me at “wing dip.”

  • Mary says:

My family needs a fun vacation! The kids and I have never been to Florida, can you believe that? They’re at just the right age to love roller coasters.

  • Lisa says:

Twittered. And we are already taking the kids to Disney in 9 days! However, I’d love to do another vacation with them. We don’t have a car for our trip this time, so we have no way to get to SeaWorld. My daughter is all over roller coasters, so she’d love this.

  • Ayako says:

I have never had a family vacation with my kids in the States and going home to Japan every year is not really a vacation – more like a chore. So, this will be great for my kids who love riding all kind of roller coasters and it will be memorable for us 🙂

  • JMom says:

A family vacation to SeaWorld would be AWESOME!! While my roller-coaster riding days are over, I have three daughters who are insane over roller coasters and a husband who is crazy about aquariums. I think there will be something there for everyone 🙂

My husband and I have a fondness for roller coasters– we rode all of the ones at Knott’s Berry Farm last month several times! We are still trying to find one that beats the fun and action of the Silver Bullet. The Manta just might be it!

  • lenny says:

I have had some bad Roller Coaster experiences ,Revere Beach, Ma. when I was a kid, Hershey Park When there loop coaster first opened (waited in line 6 hours, it broke down twice) but I love Sea World so I could definitely get over the roller coaster anxiety by being in such a fun place.

  • Louise Brouillette says:

I’d love to take my grandkids to Orlando!

  • mitch says:

I’m ready to go on the big rollercoaster. Send me down!

  • *sniff* Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, etc. but not Canada for eligibility 🙁

  • Allen McLeod says:

We love the attractions in Orlando. Sea World is a must.

  • Anna says:

I’d love to take my family to Sea World because it’s our favorite park in Orlando – and we haven’t been since the kids were 4 and 6. They’re 16 and 18 now. Hopefully we could even convince them that they like roller coasters, because this one sounds awesome!

  • Missy Ward says:

I’ve got a Seaworld Annual Pass, so don’t count me in the contest, but I just wanted to say, that I can’t wait until the end of May for Manta to open.

I want to be one of the first 100 people to ride it!

  • Desta says:

This would be great for my family. My husband, at 32, is finally finishing school. This is his first graduation ever (he got his GED in high school) so we really need to celebrate. Shrieking our lungs out on a new roller coaster sounds like a great way to commemorate so many years in school.

  • Bill says:

In 2007 we were able to take the family to Sea World San Antonio – my wife and her children from a previous marriage had been to Sea World when they were small, but myself and our two children had not. It was FANTASTIC!

I have never been to Florida, nor have my two children – my wife and step children had been there before. So that is one reason I would love to go. Second, I have never flown anywhere before, so that would be cool. Not sure which would be cooler, flying on an airplane the first time, seeing Florida for the first time or riding the Manta for the first time.

  • Abby says:

Help my family break the winter blahs and get out to have some FUN pick me please!

  • Carol says:

I really want to win because my husband and I have not been in the sun for months! It has been a dark, cold, miserable winter of snow and shoveling, and I can’t think of ANYTHING more exciting than flying down to Orlando and going to Sea World and riding the Manta!

  • Nadine L says:

I would love to be able to take our yearly trip with our best friends. Every year we go away together on vacation, this year with the economy the way it is, it’s not going to happen. We have never done the Sea World Trip, but it is on our list.

i love roller coasters! I love theme parks! I love my daughter, who lives in Orlando! Need I say more???

  • Joseph P says:

We live outside of Orlando but with a family of 5, the parks are really out of range. Sea World is our favorite! Haven’t been there in about 2 years.
Our familiy NEEDS a vacation! We have lots of family who come down here and go to the parks and my kids have to sit and listen how great it was. Breaks my heart.

  • Marilyn says:

Oh boy, would I love to win this! I would love to take my two oldest granddaughters and go there. They love rides and I always say no because I am afraid. However, I have decided to live it up and try things (I’m 56). This would be a fantastic start!

  • Michael Capp says:

As a single father of three children, this would be a great family trip for all of us! I personally haven’t been to Seaworld since I was very young.

  • cerella says:

Right now ANYWHERE WARM is good…..but I would love to visit Sea World even if the weather is hot!

  • Tiffany says:

I want to win because my husband, bless his heart, has never been to ANY of the Sea Worlds!! And we have a two-year-old who would think it was the greatest thing since PB&J to see the whales. And I LOOOOVE Roller Coasters, but I’d have to pass this time since I’m pregnant.

My boyfriend and I are getting married next year and have no money left over for a vacation. Seaworld is his favorite! I’ve never been. I would love to bring our Best Man and Maid of Honor with us!!!! The Manta sounds just like the Superman roller coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure, and I love it!!!
    Thanks!

  • nancy abbott says:

    I love seaworld.

  • Sandra K says:

My husband and 2 teenage sons love roller coasters. We have visited Florida several times and of all of the parks, Sea World is our favorite. The last time we were there it was very cold and they even closed the splash zone. So we got there when the park opened the 2nd day of our visit and it wasn’t crowded. The kids got to ride Kraken just about by themselves for at least 45 minutes. They road the front seats, the back seats, the middle, everywhere! They would love to go back again and try out Manta.

  • Berdean says:

The last time I was on a roller coaster I got so dizzy that I blacked out for a few seconds but I would give it another try!!

  • Michelle says:

After having a child, who’s now 7-months old, our new little family hasn’t had much of a chance to do anything fun. A trip to Sea World is just what my little family needs. Not only that, but my son seems to have taken an interest in animals. He loves watching our cats & dogs run around the house & yard. I just know that he’d LOVE Sea World, while my hubby & I could enjoy the awesome-oh-2009 roller coaster MANTA!

  • OMG my step kids, hubbie and I love Sea World and the little guy is now tall enough and brave enough to go on the scariest rides with me while daughter and dad stand by and shake. They live in the UK and come here for part of the summer. We were thinking of going down to Orlando anyway and would love to see Shamu and Manta!

I would love to go to Seaworld. I have two aquariums at home and love to watch the fish. The Manta ride sounds great. I like rollercoasters but not the really really wild ones. This one sounds my speed.

  • nicole says:

I want to take my children to sea world because my three year old’s first word as a baby was “fis” and he still loves them to this day..his room is even decorated in Nemo.

  • Ranee says:

This sounds unreal!!!! I mean I can’t even begin to tell you how fun it sounds. I feel like my family never has fun anymore, you know being adults and all that stuff will slow you down. So I’d love to treat the husband and kiddo to a trip to Sea World, and then of course there is one other spot left??? Anyone wanna tag along?

If I win this I’m going to be one happy camper!

  • I’d love to go to Sea World. We haven’t really taken a trip anywhere since my daughter was born. I won’t ride roller coasters unless they are at theme parks. Carnvials and county fair roller coasters just don’t seem trusting.

  • tanyetta says:

I would LOVE to be able to take my family on this trip. We’re a family of FOUR so this would be perfect for us. I love, love, love Sea World, roller coasters and anything wild and crazy! Count me in 🙂

  • Reeva says:

I’d love to take my family on a nice summer vacation. This would be great! We love seaworld and theme parks!

  • Jerri Ann says:

I think my kids are ready to go to Sea World. They are 4 and 6 and since I am a Disney lover, we’ve discussed it many times. I didn’ t think the kids could handle it though. However, over Christmas break we were out and about in Gatlinburg Tn and I learned more from them in that trip than any other because they asked questions about stuff that I hadn’t considered in years. Some of the questions we had to go back and look up the answers on the internet. But, mostly, it was just the simple things that made the trip so much more interesting.

So, at Sea World, my kids would be heaven, they would be asking a million questions and if we don’t know the answers, we can definitely count on someone there to tell us or we can look it up when we return. Going to Sea World (or such) maybe the last straw in my decision to go ahead with homeschooling.

And, then maybe not….but I know my kids are inquisitive and they stand to learn so much from asking questions that they might not get to ask if they aren’t allowed the freedom to travel. Being stuck in a room in a desk just sounds so boring compared to exploring places like Sea World and learning first hand.

  • julie reuter says:

I would love to have a free vacation. I think, unless it’s free, our family probably won’t be taking a vacation this year.

  • Naomi says:

My husband had an art show in San Diego in 2000 and we were total tourists- we did Comic Con, the zoo and we loved Sea World most of all… we haven’t made it back since we started a family and now both kids are finally old enough to enjoy traveling so I would love to take them to Sea World.

  • PATRIC KRUEGER says:

  • Linda Lansford says:

I want to take my grandkids to SeaWorld to ride Manta. They live in Kansas and when they visit this would be such a treat.

  • Stephanie V says:

Holy Manta! This coaster looks amazing. Riding flat under the manta’s wings, hills and thrills from an animal’s underwater perspective — seriously drooling after watching the video. Would love to take my family of five, who have never been to Orlando, on this once in a lifetime experience. I would most definitely win mummum (what my little boy calls me) of the year with this trip.

  • Marian Barton says:

I would like to win this because my family has never been to Orlando, and we love to visit Sea World.

  • Lisa L. says:

I went to Sea World when I was little too and it was the most amazing place ever!! I’d love to be able to take my son here this summer because we are planning our first family vacation. I was a single mom for quite awhile and am getting married in June to an amazing man who has agreed that instead of doing a traditional honeymoon we should do a family vacation. We were planning on going someplace in state because of the expense, but this would be awesome!

  • Brian says:

My wife and I went to Seaworld years ago before the kids came along and now we’d love to take them. We love aquariums and my daughter and I like coasters so this sounds perfect.

  • Tari L says:

My husband, son and I love rollercoasters. We have ridden many, but never one where you lie down and simulate a flying sensation. This would be the ultimate!

  • Marilyn Wons says:

I would love to take my grandsons to Sea World to ride Manta because this would be such a rewarding experience for them. They have never been out of their state – thank you.

  • Julie says:

We’ve always wanted to take our son to Sea World, since it was voted the best family-friendly park. Although, I don’t think he could handle the Manta, he’s only 3! Quite honestly, I don’t even know if I could handle it, but I’m all about adventure, so I’d love to give it a whirl.

  • Heather S says:

  • Ken Stross says:

We’ve never been to Orlando and Manta looks way fun.

  • Kelly Jones says:

OMG, how awesome would that be, getting to be one of the first riders on the Manta. Wow, I’m already excited just thinking about it. Haven’t been to Sea World in years. They have one in Aurora, Ohio. Went there as kid and haven’t been back since. Would love to go and rekindle all those great memories with my parents. Spending time there would be great as well. I absolutely adore the dolphins and would love to get the opportunity to swim with them. Something I’ve always wanted to do before I died. The whales, hands down their the best. Awesome mammals, love them. Actually, I love everything about our oceans. If I could breathe underwater, I believe I would have a home down there. Live like Spongebob as the kids say. LOL
Thanks for the contest and I sure do hope I win. Have a great day and a Happy Valentine’s Day.

  • Denyse says:

We live about 2 hours away but can’t afford to take the kids and so many of their friends go to Sea World. This would be sooo fun! A dream for all of us come true:)

  • Jackie Diprimo says:

I really would love a vacation; my family needs some serious bonding!!!

  • It’s been about ten years since my family has been to Sea World but I’m excited about all the changes that they have experienced.

The thing I’m most excited about is their new Manta ride. Check this out:
    Manta Stats
    • Type of coaster: Steel flying coaster
    • Height: 140 feet
    • First drop: 113 feet
    • Top speed: 56 mph
    • Track length: 3359 feet
    • Ride time: 2:35 minutes
    • Height requirement: 52 inches

Even though my husband is a coaster wimp he will definitely want to check out Manta’s pre-ride queue. Viewing tanks, enhanced by waterfalls and other underwater glimpses of a variety of rays as well as sea dragons, sea horses, and many other species of fish can be seen.

As for me I’m excited about that the first drop will swoop down 113 feet and reaching a top speed of 56 mph. The Wow factor will be the four inversions that will send us twisting and turning before returning to flying mode. There will be a mechanism that will tilt the seats 90 degrees clockwise, and we will leave the station facing the ground in “flying” mode.

I love Sea World and I would love to take my sons there again. The youngest one is getting ready to go to Iraq and this would be our last vacation before he left. Our memories from the last time we went are still wonderful and we would definitely love to go again.

  • Rose says:

Gotta take a vacation. This one would be sublime.

I used to go to Florida every summer as a kid to visit my grandparents and never made it to Disney and took myself to SeaWorld one year when I went to Daytona for a weekend. I wouldn’t mind going back to see what new parts are there now and drag a few people along with me 🙂

    And, we LOVE rollercoasters!

  • Christine says:

I haven’t been to Sea World since I was a teenager and I loved it then when I saw Shamu for the first time, and my family has never been. I know there is so much more to do now and I’d love to ride the Manta! How cool would that be! Thank you so very much for the chance!

I’ve been home for far too long. I’ve given birth to three kids since the last time I’ve been to Sea World (and the oldest is now 15)…so, it’s about time I took a trip and rode something no one would ever expect me to ride (I’m a bit of a fearful cat if you know what I mean!!!!)
    -barbarabaker 🙂

  • Laura F says:

I love rollercoasters! It would be wonderful to take my family to SeaWorld — we hardly ever get to go on an actual *fun* vacation. Whenever we go somewhere, it usually involves watching a lot of TV at some relative’s house after spending way too many hours in the car.

  • Holly B says:

I’d love to win this trip, we used to have a Sea World here in Ohio when I was a kid and I had some great memories there, but they closed it down in my teens and I miss it!

  • I live in the mountains of North Carolina, where there is *nothing* fun to do. My life is pretty much work work work, blog, TV, movies, board games with friends, and sleep. Anytime we get to go anywhere special, it’s usually just to the nearest town with something fancier than Wal-mart, which is Asheville, NC, just over an hour away. I would love to take three friends and get the hell out of here to SeaWorld and ride Manta, and have an awesome trip to reminisce about for ages!

  • OlyveOyl says:

A great family trip for those few that will be in our future as the kids grow and go.

  • trishden says:

  • Kathy Scott says:

We live in Idaho and have snow on the ground six months out of the year. My boys would love the ride and I would love the warm weather.

  • I guess I did this backwards but I hope it’s ok. I was just in such a hurry to blog about this awsome contest.

I would love to take my family to Sea World because we honestly haven’t been in years. it is still one of the most talked about vacations we’ve ever taken.

  • Roxanne Stritt says:

I just heard today about Manta at Seaworld. I could not wait to tell my teenage son. He will look so forward to this. He is going on a trip about the time of the opening. I only hope that they have some soft openings. I hear that everyone needs to go through the line just to see the cool stuff!!!

  • Ellie says:

You have sparked a moment of synchronicity for me. There is a prophecy that says I need to help people have fun 🙂 What better way to do so than take them on a Manta adventure? • Shannon says:

I want to win because I actually work in an office building directly across from Sea World, and every day I can hear the music from the shows and the screams from the other roller coaster as I trudge into my office building to spend 9 hours in a windowless, dusty cubicle. I gazed wistfully out the conference room windows during meetings as they built Manta and have dreamed about getting the chance to ride it! 🙂

  • Sweet_shelo says:

Besides ever since my daughter was tall enough she has been on every roller coaster we can find in our state. She loves our Wild Thing and Mall Of America’s Rock Bottom Plunge but we really don’t have any cool suspeneded ones and especially nothing like the Manta to try!

  • Tricia says:

I love rollercoasters, my daughter is dying to go to Florida, and we are all sea life crazy; that makes this the best contest ever.

  • prince campbell says:

We want to go to Seaworld because it is COLD here in NYC. Also the nearest thrillride here is called the Subway. Rumor is that the Manta is scarier than that!

  • Jenn says:

I have never been to Seaworld! An informal poll amongst my friends actually showed that none of them have been to Seaworld either… we’re all very deprived up here in Northern Indiana.

  • Bellesouth says:

I just got laid off from my job this month, so I think I’m entitled to a vacation.

If I won a trip to Seaworld I would take my best friend and her two adorable sons and we’d have a grand ole time. Although I may have to ride the Manta by myself since the kids probably wouldn’t meet the height requirements.

  • Becky Netzer says:

I have a 14 yr old daughter and a toddler son. My brother with cerebal palsy also lives with me and my husband. Our father died a year ago today, and our mom has been gone for 8 yrs. The Major floods of 2008 caused us to nearly lose our home. I can’t think of any better way to enjoy our new year then to take a warm trip to Sunny Florida, and see the animals and the beautiful nature! God Bless!

  • Carla Pullum says:

I would love to take my family to this and ride the Manta because the feeling of flying is most people’s dream, including mine. Maybe it’s because of being dfferently abled. Either way, it sounds like a cool thing and my family and I would have blast, Im sure.

  • I’d so love to win this! I am an exotic animal maniac!

I love adventure, and so does my hubby! Wow…this looks so exciting!

  • Dan says:

Would love to go ride the Manta and go to Sea World in Orlando with my wife and 2 children- never been there.

  • Holly says:

We have our grandsons living with us. It would be fun to see the excitement in their eyes as they see a Whale for the first time. What about as they hold a starfish. Watch a dolphin do leaps. Riding the Manta and other rides at Sea World would truly make their day complete.

  • Jo says:

SeaWorld!!!! SeaWorldSeaWorldSeaworld!!!!! Need I say anything more to win this spectacular prize?

  • Estela S says:

So my 3-year-old daughter has been captivated by the Orlando commercials on TV, especially the Sea World ones. She has even started telling relatives that for her bithday, we’re going to Oh-lando to see dolphins and Mickey. Poor child…Mommy never said such a thing! I did, however, tell her that we are moving this summer (dual-military family here being stationed in VA in June) and now she’s packing her room to move to…you guessed it…Oh-lando. *sigh* I hope I win so these “mean Mommy” feelings get abated!

  • Staci A says:

My son would love to see the animals at Sea World and my hubby, who’s a big coaster fan, would love the ride!

  • SInce having a kiddo…..we don’t get to ride rollercoasters anymore. I need to change that. I’d love to win this and try the new coaster out. Sounds fun!

  • Ashley says:

Wow, I am fired up because, Did they say Sea Dragons?
I think it’s interesting on the position you are sitting on it while riding. My family would love this!

  • Sarah Hirsch says:

My family loves vacations. It seems that we get along so much better and enjoy each other’s company so much more when we are far away from our normal everyday stresses. Plus, it wouldn’t hurt to have such fun activities keeping us busy and happy. My kids would love Sea World – seeing Manta and all the other marine life. They enjoy aquariums but have never experienced anything on the level of Sea World.

  • Dan says:

It looks like fun. And I’d love to take my daughter back to Sea World so she can ride the Shamu coaster in the kids area as well…she loves that coaster.

  • Sherry R says:

My kids would officially go nuts for this trip! They are finally old enough to enjoy a trip like this! And they love rollercoasters!

  • April says:

    Why do I wanna go?

    a) I LOVE roller coasters! Ever since I rode the triple loop Mindbender at Six Flags when I was about 6, I’ve been hooked.

    b) I haven’t been on a vacation since….geez… well, when my brother was about 10 months old we went to Disneyworld. He’s now 27.

    c) I’m a single mom struggling to make a living from my own online business. My 2 oldest kids are 18 and 16 and I’ve never had the money to take them on a vacation. I’m hoping I’ll get the chance to take my 6 yr old someplace special while she’s still young enough to enjoy this kind of thing.

    d) I am convinced my teens hate me. Taking them to Sea World would earn some back of my Cool Mom points.

    e) I haven’t seen my extended family since 1997 and they live in Georgia and Florida, so if I could at least get down to that part of the country (I’m in the Midwest), I might actually stand a chance of seeing them.

  • Lori says:

I would love to win because my family has never been to SeaWorld. They would have a blast! 🙂

  • Onezumi says:

I want to take my friends to SeaWorld to ride Manta because I have never been there before and it sounds awesome!

    I wanna win…pleaseeee! 🙂

  • carma says:

My son likes all those scary water rides (I’m a big chicken) and he still remembers the one he went on at Seaworld; that was years ago. He would love to go again and so would I to see the huge smile on his face 🙂

  • Richard says:

We took the older kids to Sea World – San Diego about 10 years ago. They have all graduated from High School and moved away from home. OUr youngest would love to go to Sea World. We have never been to Florida, so this would truly ge a trip that she would remembe for the rest of her life.

oh my – my grandchildren’s father walked out on them this year (they are 7 and 13) and moved away across the country – It has been a terrible year for them emotionally and financially, but with lots of love and support from their mom and nana and grandaddy (my husband and I) they are doing well – but have had to give up a lot including their home – this would be a wonderful gift – it would so lift their spirits to get away and do something fun – it has been such a long sad year – But whatever happens their wonderful spirit has carried us all through a very challenging time and we will find a way to reward them with a special treat – they so deserve it! I am going to keep everything crossed!!!!!!

Okay I want to ride Manta, because the Last Time we went to Sea World their Atlantis ride was pretty new. We SPECIFICALLY asked to sit at the back of the car that would go on the flume ride because my husband was the largest person being loaded on and we knew that would make it heavier where we sat. Nope, right in front. Sure enough the end of the ride came and we were soaked, I mean really soaked, wring out your clothes soaked, along with our passports, money and all our other personal documentation. We were so upset, we have never been back to Sea World (that was in 1998), So 11 years later, I’m willing to give them another go, and ride Manta.

(Sorry it was so long…but you asked…)
